Softball Recap: Centerville Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Centerville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Union City Indians. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Indians, too.

Aubrey Seifer spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kinley Rinehart was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Lilly Day was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run and one double.

Centerville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union City only posted a batting average of .138.

Centerville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Union City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Centerville will be playing in front of their home fans against Hagerstown at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Union City, they have already played their next matchup, a 6-0 win against Bluffton on the 28th.
