The Lyons Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Byers Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lyons had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Clear Creek on Thursday. The Lions put the hurt on the Golddiggers with a sharp 9-2 victory. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Golddiggers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Jake LaCrosse made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 17 over 6.2 innings pitched. Those 17 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Lyons is 3-1 when LaCrosse posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Zack LaCrosse was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Leo Irvin was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Meanwhile, Byers came into Thursday's contest having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out Stratton 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since March 19, 2024.
Jack Earl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Byers secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Kaden Bennett, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Lyons' record now sits at 5-6. As for Byers, their record is now 5-7.
Everything went Lyons' way against Byers in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Lyons made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
