League recap: Rankila overpowering for St. Michael-Albertville in past week

Mississippi 8 league recap: 6/5/13

St. Michael-albertville's Brandon Rankila was the best pitcher in Mississippi 8 this week. Over the past week, he had one win and five Ks.

Top honors in the league this week go to the Knights, which finished with two wins overall, good for best in the league. St. Michael-Albertville beat Moorhead 5-0 and Bemidji 6-0.

Big Lake's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 18 hits and one walk to lead the league in both categories.

The league boasted three .400 hitters over the past week. They were led by Brandon Holthaus, who hit .667 this week (4-for-6).

Jacob Dzubay, who sits at the top of the league with a .333 batting average, finished the week at a blistering .400 clip for the Knights.



St. Michael-Albertville's Dzubay threw six shutout innings in a 5-0 win over the Spuds on Monday. He struck out six, allowing five hits.
