Football Recap: Merrillville Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Loyola Academy

Merrillville is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Loyola Academy. The Pirates fell 21-14 to the Ramblers.

Despite the loss, Merrillville still got an impressive performance from Michael Hill Jr, who threw for 247 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 44 yards.

Merrillville's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Merrillville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 35-21 defeat against Crown Point on the 5th. As for Loyola Academy, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Francis at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th.
