Basketball Game Preview: John Marshall Monarchs vs. Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers

The John Marshall Monarchs will challenge the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

John Marshall barely beat Brooke the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. John Marshall took their match two weeks ago with ease, bagging a 69-20 victory over Brooke. 69 seems to be a good number for the Monarchs as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Buckhannon-Upshur earned a 48-41 victory over East Fairmont on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Buccaneers.

John Marshall pushed their record up to 9-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points over those games. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.

John Marshall didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Buckhannon-Upshur in their previous matchup back in February of 2018, but they still walked away with a 51-47 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for John Marshall since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
