Basketball Recap: Oakfield-Alabama Takes a Loss

Oakfield-Alabama fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Notre Dame on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish by a score of 53-51. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Fighting Irish earlier this season, when they won 51-48.

Notre Dame got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sofia Falleti out in front who posted 19 points and six boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Falleti has scored at least a third of Notre Dame's points. Another player making a difference was Shirley Thompson, who put up nine points and seven rebounds.

Oakfield-Alabama now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Notre Dame, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Oakfield-Alabama has already played their next contest, a 69-23 victory against Wheatland-Chili on the 13th. As for Notre Dame, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 44-22 win against Batavia on the 8th.
