Volleyball Recap: Knightstown Panthers vs. South Decatur Cougars
Knightstown had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the South Decatur Cougars by a score of 3-2. The Panthers have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Knightstown wouldn't go down easily and took South Decatur into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 15-13.
Lanee Swindell paced Knightstown's offense, picking up 18 kills. Swindell got some help from Jaycie Cole and her 23 assists. Swindell was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.
South Decatur's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-2.
Knightstown and South Decatur will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Panthers are set to challenge their familiar foe Union County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, South Decatur will take on rival Edinburgh at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
