Softball Recap: Rockwood Tigers vs. Rhea County Golden Eagles

Rockwood had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-16 to make it 15. They lost 12-0 to the Rhea County Golden Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 back in March.

As for Rhea County, their record is now 10-11. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 14-0).

For Rhea County's part, Allie Shaver made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Shaver has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brook Tallent was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Hailee Kosek also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rockwood will face off against Oak Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Rhea County, they will head out on the road to take on Bledsoe County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Golden Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
