Meanwhile, Venice has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.92 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They lost 14-3 to Harvard-Westlake. The loss was the Gondoliers' first of the season.
Venice saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Khalia Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
El Segundo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Venice fell to 11-1.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. El Segundo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Venice struggles in that department as they've averaged .453. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
