Basketball Recap: Myrtle Beach Takes a Loss

Myrtle Beach lost against Socastee back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Myrtle Beach Seahawks took a 41-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Socastee Braves. The Seahawks' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Socastee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trinity Sumpter led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Sumpter a new career-high in blocks (four). Another player making a difference was Bri Smith, who posted 16 points and five boards.

Myrtle Beach's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Socastee, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-11.

Myrtle Beach will square off against Carolina Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Carolina Forest will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Myrtle Beach surely won't give up without a fight. As for Socastee, they will take on Conway at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
