Preview: Heritage Pioneers vs. Brookville Bees
Heritage has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Brookville Bees at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Heritage knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Brookville likes a good challenge.
Heritage was handed a three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Liberty on Monday. Heritage breezed by Liberty at home to the tune of 74-46. Given Heritage's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Liberty is ranked 423rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Brookville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Jefferson Forest on the road and fell 74-41.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tristan Harbour, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Dominic Collison, who scored nine points.
Heritage is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Brookville, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-18.
Heritage strolled past Brookville in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 56-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Heritage since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
