Football Recap: Wheatmore Warriors vs. West Davidson Dragons
After soaring to 32 points the game before, Wheatmore was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a 14-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Davidson Dragons. Surprisingly, this marked the Warriors' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Connor Benton threw for 133 yards on 11 of 20 attempts. Kenny Hoover was his top target, picking up 74 receiving yards. On the ground, Gavin McPherson rushed for 64 yards and one score.
Carson Correll had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 128 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries for West Davidson. Correll is becoming a predictor of the Dragons' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).
Wheatmore's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for West Davidson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
Wheatmore has already played their next contest, a 48-28 defeat against Providence Grove on the 24th. As for West Davidson, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-13 win against Trinity on the 24th.
