Basketball Recap: Mt. Olive Takes a Loss

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Wildcats on Friday. The Mt. Olive Wildcats were dealt a 67-22 loss at the hands of the Edinburg Wildcats. Mt. Olive hasn't had much luck with Edinburg recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Mt. Olive's loss came despite strong showings from Matthew Bywater and David Schoen. Bywater posted a point in addition to eight rebounds, four steals, and three blocks, while Schoen scored six points.

Mt. Olive's defeat dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Edinburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.

Looking ahead, Mt. Olive will take on East Alton-Wood River at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Olive is facing East Alton-Wood River at the right time seeing as East Alton-Wood River is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Edinburg, they are taking a road trip to square off against Griggsville-Perry at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
