Softball Game Preview: Patterson Lumberjacks vs. Berwick Panthers

Patterson hasn't had much luck against Berwick recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Patterson Lumberjacks will host the Berwick Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Patterson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Patterson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Gueydan on Monday as Patterson made off with a 19-1 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lumberjacks with their most commanding win of the season.

The team relied heavily on Gabby Grogan, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Madeline Guillot, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI and two runs.

Meanwhile, Berwick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 10-5 to Sacred Heart.

Berwick saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Diboll, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Makinzie Macaluso was another, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

The win got Patterson back to even at 4-4. As for Berwick, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Berwick's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Patterson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. It's a different story for Berwick, though, as they've only averaged .355. Will they be able to contain Patterson's hitters?
