Football Recap: Rockcastle County Piles Up the Points Against Clay County

Rockcastle County strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Clay County Tigers 47-8. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Rockets' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky football rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Tigers are ranked 143rd).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rockcastle County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caden Lovell, who rushed for 100 yards and two TDs on only six carries, and also threw for 77 yards and one touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. Those 100 rushing yards gave Lovell a new career-high. Another back making a difference was Isaiah Jackson, who rushed for 159 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Rockcastle County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 465 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in 12 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Rockcastle County's record is now 6-0. As for Clay County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Coming up, Rockcastle County will head out to face off against Bell County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats' defense has only allowed 13.8 points per game this season, so the Rockets' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Clay County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Scott at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 43.6 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
