The Collegium Charter Cougar will head out to face off against the MAST Community Charter Panthers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Collegium Charter took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against Calvary Christian Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougar came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cougars on Thursday, sneaking past 6-4. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougar as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Hannah Quinn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Jorja Quinn was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Shaina Ulmer was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for MAST Community Charter, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over Philadelphia Academy Charter on Monday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by ten runs or more this season.
Rylie Fitzsimmons made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Fitzsimmons was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Jordan Jennings was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jessica Leinenbach, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
MAST Community Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
MAST Community Charter's record now sits at 13-4. As for Collegium Charter, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Collegium Charter has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like MAST Community Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Collegium Charter might still be hurting after the 17-0 loss they got from MAST Community Charter in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Cougar avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
