Football Recap: Central Extends Winning Streak to Six + How To Watch

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They managed a 35-29 victory over the La Quinta Blackhawks. The team ran away with 29 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.

Matthew Lizaola had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 79 yards and three TDs. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making ten total tackles (1.0 for loss). Joshua Garcia was in the mix too, providing Central with one score.

La Quinta lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Roman Ansley, who threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 93 yards on only 12 carries. Simon Simonian was another key back, gaining 108 total yards and two touchdowns.

The victory keeps Central at an undefeated 6-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 30.8 points this season. As for La Quinta, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Central and La Quinta will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Spartans are set to face off against their familiar foe Imperial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, La Quinta will challenge rival Palm Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
