Murphysboro won the last time they faced Herrin and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Red Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Tigers.

Arianna Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Blaire Fox, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Savannah Anderson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Murphysboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Murphysboro's record is now 5-8. As for Herrin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-11.
