Softball Recap: Seacrest Country Day Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Seacrest Country Day walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Community School of Naples Seahawks on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Stingrays, who have now won six contests in a row.

Caroline Porter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Those 17 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jolie Booth and Dailin Delgado did most of the damage at the plate: Booth went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Delgado got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Booth has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Kami Gray was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Seacrest Country Day's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Community School of Naples, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Seacrest Country Day has already played their next game, a 10-5 loss against Neumann on the 1st. Community School of Naples does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
