Breese Central took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Columbia, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Eagles on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Breese Central's victory bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Columbia, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Breese Central will take on Metro-East Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Columbia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Collinsville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
