Baseball Recap: Mantachie Comes Up Short

Mantachie fell victim to Belmont and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. The Mustangs have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Troy Bruce was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Mantachie's record now sits at 6-12. As for Belmont, the win snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 7-12 record.

While Mantachie had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
