Preview: Shawsheen Valley Tech Rams vs. Lowell Catholic Crusaders
Shawsheen Valley Tech and Lowell Catholic are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Shawsheen Valley Tech Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Lowell Catholic Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Back in December of 2023, Shawsheen Valley Tech ended up a good deal behind Essex Tech and lost 40-21.
Meanwhile, Lowell Catholic had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Collegiate Charter School of Lowell 48-20 on the road.
Lowell Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leticia Castro, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Castro has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Janae Holmes, who scored ten points.
Shawsheen Valley Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lowell Catholic, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.
Shawsheen Valley Tech didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Lowell Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 27-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shawsheen Valley Tech since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
