Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Indian Creek

With a playoff win on the line, Indian Creek rose to the challenge on Saturday. They blew past the Claymont Mustangs 11-1. Considering the Redskins have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Sal Barcalow made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Indian Creek got a big performance out of Gavin Pownall, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Pownall has posted since back in April. Ty Householder was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Indian Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Claymont only posted an OBP of .261.

Indian Creek's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Claymont, their loss dropped their record down to 12-17.

Looking ahead, Indian Creek will challenge Carrollton at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last five games the Warriors have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Claymont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
