Basketball Recap: Southland Christian Triumphs

Southland Christian proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 36) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 68-67 victory over the IMG Academy Blue Ascenders.

It was another big night for Javon Chavez, who went 7-for-10 from beyond the arc to rack up 34 points. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 41.9% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Kedwin Hawkins, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Southland Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They are 9-1 when they've passed the ball that well.

Southland Christian's record now sits at 10-3. As for IMG Academy Blue, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Southland Christian will square off against Brevard Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Hawkins and Samuel Mitchell. As for IMG Academy Blue, they will challenge Santa Fe Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
