Softball Recap: Oil City Comes Up Short

Oil City lost against Girard back in March of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Oil City fell just short of Girard by a score of 9-8.

Autumn Wysocki put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wysocki was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Wysocki is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Ariana Griffin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shalyn Whittemore, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Oil City's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2. As for Girard, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Oil City will challenge Rocky Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Girard, they will head out on the road to face off against Union City at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. This will be Girard's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
