Softball Recap: Willow Spring Sets Scoring Season-High Against South Garner

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Willow Spring). They never let the South Garner Titans get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Storm, who have now won three matches in a row.

Savannah Callis looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Willow Spring let Abby Howard and Lynlee Ogburn run wild. Howard went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Ogburn scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Howard is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Jaiden Baker also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Willow Spring always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Willow Spring pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for South Garner, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Willow Spring will head out to face off against Apex at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Willow Spring knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Apex likes a good challenge. As for South Garner, they will take on Corinth Holders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
