Softball Recap: Santa Ynez Has No Trouble Against Carpinteria

Santa Ynez won the last time they faced Carpinteria and things went their way on Thursday too. The Pirates put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 14-7 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Maleah Knightley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Claire Tipich and Rylan Agin did most of the damage at the plate: Tipich got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Agin went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two RBI gave Tipich a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addeline Martinez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Santa Ynez's win bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Carpinteria, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-12.

After both having extra time off, Santa Ynez and Santa Maria will shake off the rust and duke it out at 3:30 p.m. on the 29th. As for Carpinteria, they will head out to face off against Nordhoff at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
