Baseball Game Preview: Jefferson Mustangs vs. Burbank Bulldogs

Jefferson is 2-8 against Burbank since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Mustangs will take on the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Jefferson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Jefferson came up short against Edison and fell 9-5. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jefferson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Urdiales, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Urdiales has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.

Meanwhile, Burbank waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Voks. Considering the Bulldogs have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Isaac Sandoval, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Issac Perez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Burbank hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive games.

Burbank's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Jefferson, they now have a losing record of 12-13.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Jefferson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Burbank struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
