Football Recap: Montcalm Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Montcalm was the 59-12 winner over Phelps when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Generals took a 22-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Generals came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 100th in West Virginia, while the Hornets are ranked 221st in Kentucky).

Landin Clower threw for 248 yards and three TDs. Korbin Nunn was his top target, picking up 171 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Ethan Fields had a dynamite game For Phelps., rushing for 107 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries.

This is the second loss in a row for Montcalm and nudges their season record down to 2-3. As for Phelps, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Montcalm will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Meadow Bridge at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Phelps, they will challenge Twin Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.83 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
