Volleyball Recap: Southeastern Falls Despite Big Games from Briley Kirkbride and Gracie Brown

If Southeastern was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Eastern on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell 3-1 to the Westfall Mustangs on Tuesday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Southeastern ultimately came up short, they really made Westfall work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 17-25, 25-13, 25-19.

Despite the defeat, Southeastern had strong showings from Gracie Brown, who had 15 digs and one assist, and Briley Kirkbride, who had 14 digs.

Westfall got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Morgan Kearney out in front who had 12 digs. Those 12 digs gave Kearney a new career-high. Aubrey Bickenheuser was another key player, getting nine digs and two assists.

Southeastern's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Westfall, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-6.

Southeastern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Zane Trace on the 11th. As for Westfall, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Paint Valley on the 11th.
