Baseball Recap: Berea-Midpark Takes a Loss

Berea-Midpark was the 10-0 winner over Avon Lake when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Titans fell 7-2 to the Shoremen on Friday. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Berea-Midpark got a good showing from Austin Mihalek, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Michael Samarin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

Berea-Midpark's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Avon Lake, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berea-Midpark will venture away from home to take on Midview at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Avon Lake, they will head out to square off against Hudson at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Explorers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Shoremen's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
