Basketball Recap: Clearwater Gets the Win

Clearwater saw some tournament action on Saturday. They snuck past the Winthrop College Prep Academy Spartans with a 54-50 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tornadoes.

Kris Foote was his usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double with 27 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.7 points per game. Kandiyel Tirado was another key player, putting up eight points.

Despite the defeat, Winthrop College Prep Academy had strong showings from Jaiden Martin, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 13 points, and Meliq Abdullah, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Jaden Slater, who put up six points and five boards.

Clearwater's record is now 11-3. As for Winthrop College Prep Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Clearwater wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-52 victory against Dunedin on the 6th. As for Winthrop College Prep Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 69-61 defeat against Bell Creek Academy on the 7th.
