Volleyball Recap: Herrin Tigers vs. Carmi-White County Bulldogs
Herrin was the 2-1 winner over Carmi-White County when they last played one another back in October of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Tigers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs on Thursday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Shaniya Johnson paced Herrin's offense, picking up four kills. Johnson got some help from Harley Summers and her five assists. Johnson was also a major player on defense: she and Evaley Collier shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with two each.
Herrin's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Carmi-White County, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Herrin will square off against Carterville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carmi-White County, they will take on Grayville in a tournament on Saturday.
