Softball Recap: Glenwood Takes a Loss

Glenwood extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They came up short against the West Union Dragons, falling 23-2. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

West Union's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-10. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

For West Union's part, Addison Mashburn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Mashburn was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Lylah Adams was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was MacKenzie Stout, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with seven stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Coming up, Glenwood will head out to square off against Clay at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West Union, they will be playing at home against Fairfield at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
