Softball Game Preview: Ballard Memorial Bombers vs. McCracken County Mustangs

Ballard Memorial is 1-7 against McCracken County since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bombers will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Ballard Memorial came out on top against Mayfield on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 14-run second inning. The Bombers were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Cardinals. The win continues a trend for the Bombers in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won nine in a row.

G Glisson looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, T Williams was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. K Shepherd was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Ballard Memorial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, McCracken County waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Blue Tornado with a sharp 11-5 victory. McCracken County's win was all the more impressive since the Blue Tornado were averaging only 3.92 runs allowed on the season.

McCracken County's victory bumped their record up to 21-5. As for Ballard Memorial, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 8-5.
