Football Recap: Arroyo Valley Comes Up Short

Arroyo Valley lost against Jurupa Hills back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hawks took a 20-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 471st, while the Spartans are ranked 225th).

A big part of Jurupa Hills' victory came down to the chemistry between Emelie Castrejon and her top target Samantha Alegria. Castrejon threw for 228 yards and one touchdown while Alegria picked up 120 receiving yards and one TD. Another big playmaker for Jurupa Hills was Jaylene Murillo, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Arroyo Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Jurupa Hills, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

Coincidentally, Arroyo Valley and Jurupa Hills will both be playing Summit the next time they take the field. The Spartans will head out to face the SkyHawks at 3:45 p.m. on Monday, while the Hawks will host them at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
