Recap: Cherry Creek Bruins vs. Smoky Hill Buffaloes
The Cherry Creek Bruins scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Smoky Hill, posting a 70-21 victory on the road. The win was nothing new for Cherry Creek as they're now sitting on ten straight.
Cherry Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophia Baal, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Baal pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ari Boyd, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Cherry Creek pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Smoky Hill, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.
Cherry Creek will be playing at home against Cherokee Trail at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cherry Creek is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Smoky Hill, they will head out on the road to take on Grandview at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Smoky Hill comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last 11 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
