Softball Recap: Westfield Comes Up Short

After flying high against Centreville last Wednesday, Westfield came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell just short of the James Madison Warhawks by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Warhawks: they've now lost seven in a row.

Westfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carly Austin, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Westfield's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for James Madison, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0.

Westfield will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Chantilly at 6:30 p.m. on the 22nd. The Bulldogs are facing the Chargers at the right time seeing as the Chargers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for James Madison, they will challenge Penfield at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
