Preview: Vandegrift Vipers vs. Round Rock Westwood Warriors
The Vandegrift Vipers will head out on the road to square off against the Round Rock Westwood Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vandegrift will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Vandegrift made easy work of Vista Ridge and carried off a 53-28 victory. Given Vandegrift's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Vista Ridge is ranked 671st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Round Rock Westwood's game on Friday was all tied up 22-22 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to Manor 61-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Vandegrift is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 22 games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season. As for Round Rock Westwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-13.
Vandegrift strolled past Round Rock Westwood when the teams last played back in January by a score of 59-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vandegrift since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
