Softball Recap: Carroll's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Carroll dropped their record down to 23-6-1 on Saturday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell 3-0 to the Crown Point Bulldogs. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Chargers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Crown Point, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 20 of their last 22 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

For Crown Point's part, Paige Liezert looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Liezert has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Rangel, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Scarlette Tegtman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Carroll does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Crown Point, they will face off against Penn at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Kingsmen will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
