Softball Recap: Pikeview Wins Going Away Against Summers County

PikeView got themselves on the board against Summers County on Tuesday, but Summers County never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 19-0 win. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Shelby Maddox made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while going 3-for-3. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Delida, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaylie Honaker, who scored two runs while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

PikeView always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for PikeView and bumps their season record up to 5-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Summers County, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
