Basketball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Santa Fe Trail

After losing to Anderson County the last time they met, Santa Fe Trail decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Santa Fe Trail Chargers enjoyed a cozy 65-48 victory over the Anderson County Bulldogs on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.

When it comes to explaining why Anderson County lost, don't look at Noah Porter. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 17 on his way to 25 points and eight boards. Porter is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 19 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Wheat, who posted eight points.

Santa Fe Trail pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Anderson County, they moved to 5-2 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Santa Fe Trail will take on St. Mary's Academy in a tournament on Thursday. As for Anderson County, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Humboldt at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th. Anderson County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.1 points per game this season.
