Football Recap: Southern Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Southern's offense. They were beaten by the Thayer Central Titans 59-0 on Friday. The Raiders have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Weston Whitwer threw for 42 yards on seven of 23 attempts. On the ground, Carsen Goes rushed for 51 yards.

Thayer Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laken Wiedel, who rushed for 68 yards and one score, and also threw for 43 yards and one touchdown. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 53 yards. Blake Gunn was another key player, gaining 73 total yards and two touchdowns.

Southern's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Thayer Central, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1.
