Baseball Recap: Creighton Prep Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Creighton Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Millard West Wildcats on Tuesday, sneaking past 11-10. The Junior Jays' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Oliver Gubbels looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.

On the hitting side, Braden Caito was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Charlie Ziola also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Creighton Prep pushed their record up to 1-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Millard West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Creighton Prep will have a chance to go back-to-back against Millard West: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
