Basketball Recap: Pierce Hall's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Valley Center over Classical Academy

Valley Center was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 50-43 to the Classical Academy Caimans. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Caimans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Valley Center lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Pierce Hall, who posted ten points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chace Paxton, who had 15 points and six rebounds.

Classical Academy was led to victory by Drew Davis and Lawson Schreiner. Davis put up 17 points, while Schreiner earned 16 points. Those 17 points gave Davis a new career-high.

Valley Center's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Classical Academy, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-7 record.

Valley Center and Orange Glen will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Classical Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Calvin Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Caimans' defense better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 57.3 points per game this season.
