Baseball Recap: Marcellus Takes a Loss

Marcellus entered their matchup against Centreville on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wildcats came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 12-6. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 7-2.

Cale Hackenberg made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jakob Huber, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Marcellus' loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 13-4. As for Centreville, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Marcellus will square off against Decatur at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Raiders have now posted at least ten runs in their last eight games. As for Centreville, they will welcome Comstock at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs are facing the Colts at the right time seeing as the Colts are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
