Volleyball Recap: Riverview Sarasota Falls Short of Venice in the Playoffs

Riverview Sarasota and Venice squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Riverview Sarasota had to settle for second. They fell 3-1 to the Indians. While the Rams didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Indians 25-18 in the first set.

Riverview Sarasota started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-19.

Amelia Anselmi was nothing short of spectacular for Venice: she had 40 assists and eight digs. That's the most assists Anselmi has posted over her last 12 matchups.

Riverview Sarasota's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Venice, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-12 record this season.
