Volleyball Recap: Plainville Comes Up Short

Plainville lost against Avon back in November of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Blue Devils fell 3-1 to the Falcons. While the Blue Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Falcons 25-18 in the first set.

Plainville started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-16.

Olivia Carter paced Plainville's offense, picking up 11 kills. Carter got some help from Mia Palia and her 13 assists. Sadie Brann controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Ainsley Evans was the offensive standout of the match as she had 27 digs and six aces. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 10.2 digs per game.

Plainville is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8. As for Avon, with the victory, they broke their four-match losing streak and moved their record to 7-12.

Plainville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against East Catholic on the 23rd. As for Avon, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Conard on the 24th.
