Basketball Game Preview: South Plantation Paladins vs. Cypress Bay Lightning

South Plantation hasn't had much luck against Cypress Bay recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The South Plantation Paladins will head out to square off against the Cypress Bay Lightning at 6:00 p.m.

Back in December of 2024, South Plantation ended up a good deal behind South Broward and lost 46-31. The Paladins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Cypress Bay didn't have too much trouble with Keys Gate on Saturday as they won 55-39. Given the Lightning's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Knights are ranked 322nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cypress Bay found their leader in sophomore Ellie McKinney, who went 10 for 15 on her way to 21 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McKinney has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Danielle Oz, who posted 14 points and eight boards.

The win made it two in a row for Cypress Bay and bumps their season record up to 10-2. As for South Plantation, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

South Plantation might still be hurting after the 61-35 defeat they got from Cypress Bay when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Thankfully for South Plantation, Peyton Looky (who had 19 points in addition to eight boards and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
