Basketball Recap: Union Comes Up Short

Union was the 50-45 winner over Park City when they last played one another back in January of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Union Cougars took a 76-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Park City Miners on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (64), the Cougars still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Union lost, don't look at Wayke Olsen. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 23 on his way to 25 points and seven rebounds. Olsen is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Stetson Duncan, who posted ten points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Union smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

It was another big night for Luke Rice, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 24 points and five rebounds for Park City. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Zagin, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 15 points.

Union's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Park City, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-9.

Union wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 91-74 loss against American Heritage on the 3rd. As for Park City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 85-64 defeat against Spanish Fork on the 3rd.
